With the support of the Arts Council of England, Fuseperformance is offering three commissions to emergent artists or groups to produce outdoor art works at Somerfest in four public spaces in the centre of Taunton: High St, Castle Green, Goodland Garden and Somerset Square.
The theme of the Festival is FEAST, evoking a time of plenty and celebration, with an abundance of different experiences, playful interchanges, tastes/flavours. With this theme in mind, Fuse want to create and produce performances, visual environments and interactive sites of play that especially celebrate diversity as part of Somerset’s cultural life.
Drawing from the theme of FEAST, the briefs for these three works are to create:
- An interactive and participatory children’s/family installation / activity
- A visual trail from one public space of the Festival to the next
- An interactive site of play and games
The artists/group would be expected to work with the Artistic Director of Somerfest in the context and development of their work. Each artist/group would be awarded £700.
Fuse is particularly interested in inviting artists to apply that have visual arts and/or performing arts / street arts backgrounds and that are interested in making work for public spaces.
